The Logistics Support Division
is dedicated to the United
Nations goal of gender equality.
Women are encouraged to apply.
 
LSD is based at UN Headquarters in New York City, where a diverse and dedicated team of civilian staff provides logistical support to UN-led peacekeeping, peacebuilding, and political missions around the world.
Quick Facts:
• DPKO/DFS is the second largest mover of military personnel in the world.
• DPKO/DFS currently leads 18 peacekeepingoperations around the world. In addition, DFS offers
   logistics support to
peacebuilding, and political missionsled by the
   Department of Political Affairs (DPA).
In 2006, the Logistics Support Division:
• Organized 21 Military Letters of Assist involving 11 Troop Contributing Countries
   (Argentina, Bangladesh, Chile, Italy, India, Pakistan, Russia, South Africa, Ukraine,
   Uruguay, and Ghana.).
• Using long-term chartered air assets flew 120,000 flight hours and transported 723,680 passengers and    140,980 tons of cargo.
• Using short-term chartered air and sea assets Arranged and managed:
   - 106 cargo flights and 45 ships of contingent-owned equipment carrying approximately 33,510 tons of       baggage and cargo;
   - 6 cargo flights and 6 ships of UN owned equipment carrying approximately 10,000 tons of cargo;
   - Passenger flights carrying approximately 176,500 contingent and police personnel.
